Although expectations weren’t particularly high for Wonder Woman when it was released back in last summer, the movie broke numerous records. During the course of summer, Wonder Woman became one of the biggest movies of the year and unsurprisingly, number of fans are already speculating how the director Patty Jenkins will handle the sequel. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight,Jenkins revealed that Wonder Woman 2 won’t feel like a sequel.
During the interview, Patty Jenkins revealed that she doesn’t have any intention to make a carbon copy of the first movie. Moreover, she wants to take a different route with the sequel. She said, “We’re actually making a totally different film with a lot of the same, similar like things that we love, but it’s its own movie completely, so it’s not ‘two’ to us. It’s an entirely new adventure together that we couldn’t be luckier (to do).”
Although Justice League is considered to be a box office failure, Wonder Woman still played a major role during the movie which suggests that Wonder Woman 2 will be another massive success for DCEU when the movie arrives later in 2019. At the moment however, it’s unclear which storyline the sequel will tackle as rumors have suggested that we might see a story based on Cold War or World War II setting. As a result, it will be interesting to see how the director changes the storytelling for the sequel.
