Although Razer’s smartphone didn’t receive the expected reviews due to its camera qualities, overall reviews of the phone have been pretty great. Despite the Razer Phone’s shortcoming with camera, there is no denying that the smartphone is truly designed for entertainment purposes. If you are using the smartphone for such purposes, then you will be glad to know that the Razer Phone will get HDR and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound support in the coming days.
The news came via an announcement made by Razer at CES. Thanks to the upcoming support, in addition to providing crisp video quality on the smartphone’s 120Hz display, the phone will sound a lot better. Talking about the upcoming support, Razer’s co-founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan said, “We engineered the Razer Phone to handle HDR video and sound like no other phone on the market. We are incredibly excited to deliver Netflix entertainment on a smartphone like never before, enabling us to take full measure of the Razer Phone’s HDR10-enabled display and dual-firing, front-facing Dolby-optimized speakers and THX-certified headphone connectivity.”
If you are excited about the upcoming support though, you will need to wait few more days as the update is scheduled for release later this month. The upcoming update will also feature a home screen widget for quick access to Netflix. Unsurprisingly, you will need to have a subscription to Netflix to access the streaming giant’s content from the Razer smartphone.
