As Technicians need information on every car that enters production service, the service portals are reliable source to find information on the upcoming cars. A recently published report from The Truth About Cars has pointed out several details of 2018 Mustang Shelby GT500 after the car recently found its way into Ford’s service portal.
The details provided several key details regarding the upcoming car. While previous rumors suggested that Ford might keep the supercharged V-8, it wasn’t confirmed up until now. But the recent listings in the portal seemingly confirms that the company will keep the engine. Moreover, the report pointed out that if previous rumors and listings are correct, then the car might generate up to 750-horsepower.
As for control, the system diagnosis procedures mentions the carbon ceramic brakes which will be essential given that the service portal data contains a top speed of over 200mph. Additionally, the upcoming car will feature multiple powertrain drive models including Drag Strip and Launch Control modes which will replace Track and Snow/Wet in other models. In order to make driving the car in a condition other than dry pavement, Shelby will come with a Weather mode which will give drivers a better sense of control.
However, this is still too early to predict everything considering these aren’t officially confirmed by the company. With several Auto show in coming months, it’s likely that we will get full confirmation of details when the GT500 is finally revealed in the coming weeks.
