Although Xiaomi has become one of the biggest Chinese smartphone manufacturers over last couple of years, it is yet to make a mark in the United States due to Xiaomi’s lack of carrier support. However, if recent reports are to be believed, then the company is working on changing that as it is currently in talks with major US cell phone carrier.
This latest news comes after Xiaomi executive Wang Xiang has previously stated that the company is working on bringing its smartphones to US market within next two years. Moreover, few months earlier, reports revealed that another top Chinese manufacturer, Huawei, is also in talks with mobile carriers to release its smartphones to US based consumers in the upcoming year.
However, according to a report from Bloomberg, there’s a possibility that the deal might not be reached in time. Given that various smartphones focused events are approaching pretty fast, more news regarding possible deal might be coming in the next couple of weeks.
Like Huawei, Xiaomi has established itself as one of the major smartphone manufacturers over last couple of years which is significant achievement considering the company achieved it without competing in the U.S. market. In case it reaches an agreement with major U.S. carriers, the company’s position is likely to improve over the coming years.
