Earlier this month, Microsoft and Qualcomm announced a new deal to bring always connected Windows 10 computer using Snapdragon 835 processor. At the moment, Lenovo, Asus and HP are set to bring ARM powered laptops in coming months. Now, a new repot has said that two more tech giants might be joining the group.
Although in recent months, both Samsung and Xiaomi has brought new laptops, they aren’t particularly known for their Laptops. However, both of the manufacturers have agreed to participate in the program. This news is particularly interesting given that Xiaomi has started to produce laptop earlier last year and till now, China has been the company’s main market. However, both Samsung and Xiaomi are known for bringing decent smartphones and given both of the company’s familiarity with Snapdragon processors, it will be interesting to see how upcoming laptops perform.
Snapdragon ARM chips for a long time have been known for tablets and mobiles. However, as consumers are going to laptops with more battery life, ARM processor might be perfect for bringing laptops which will last more than a day on battery. However, for a long time, Intel’s x86 processors dominated the market and at the moment, we will have to find out if Snapdragon based laptops can match performance provided by the performance of laptops powered by Intel’s processors.
Apart from longer battery life, Snapdragon based PCs will also have the ability to use modern 4G wireless. However, as we still have few more months before we can get our hands on Snapdragon powered laptops, more news related to the developments are expected to arrive in coming weeks.
