Back in 2011, Facebook introduced Ticker to let users inform about their friends’ activity on the platform. While the news feed of the social network showed you suggested contents based on your activity on the platform, Ticker showed everything your friends were doing at real time including likes and comments on other posts. However, Facebook has removed the feature from the social network in a help forum post after users noticed the absence of the feature on the platform.
If you have been following news, this latest confirmation shouldn’t come as a surprise as users for a while now reporting that the tool is missing for several weeks. Prior to the removal, Facebook tested the removal of real-time tracker back in 2013 when it was part of an outage. However, the social networking giant later re-introduced the feature.
As for this time, users have expressed mixed reaction regarding the feature’s removal. If you haven’t used the ticker before, then you won’t notice any significant changes in the platform as Facebook’s right hand sidebar now is divided into different sections including stories, events invited and games. As for Facebook’s decision to remove the feature from the network, it’s unclear why Facebook decided to remove the feature as previously users could hide the feature without any problem.
