Although Facebook is useful to help you to stay connected with friends and family, the social networking giant can be pretty overwhelming if you consider the amount of stress it can create due to fake news and annoying people. In an attempt to provide more pleasant experience on the social network, the company has rolled out a new feature that allows you to temporarily unfollow or mute pages and people.
The latest feature, Snooze is expected to roll out to everyone in the coming days. When the feature is available, it will give you option to mute a page for 30 days which will ultimately give you a break from a page which might provide repetitive information.
The company wrote, “With Snooze, you don’t have to unfollow or unfriend permanently, rather just stop seeing someone’s posts for a short period of time. The people, Pages, and groups you snooze will not be notified. You will be notified before the Snooze period is about to end and the setting can also be reversed at any time.”
While Facebook’s role in spreading fake news hasn’t been part of regular news recently, it’s good to see that the social networking giant is trying to protect its users from exposure to fake news and propaganda. However, we will have to wait to find out if the latest feature will be effective in the long run.
