Apple and Qualcomm have been part of a lengthy legal dispute over last couple of months regarding the wireless chip. As the dispute is not showing any sign or progress, a recent report revealed that Apple is currently looking to sign a partnership with MediaTek to source baseband modem chipsets for the iPhone next year.
While this is still early to predict, the latest report points out that Apple has transferred its orders from Qualcomm to Intel following the lawsuit which was filed earlier this year.
This latest report comes after rumors earlier in October suggested that Apple is considering using MediaTek’s chips for iPhone. Moreover, the chip manufacturer meets all of Apple’s key principles which means that it won’t be surprising if Apple parts ways with Qualcomm after all.
As there is no official confirmation from Apple at this point, we will have to take these reports with grain of salt until official words from either companies become available.
