Although Black Widow remains to be one of the major characters in MCU thanks to the character’s appearance, her history is largely unknown. Comic book fans for a long time have desired a solo movie and given then success of Wonder Woman, rumors surfaced that we will get a solo Black Widow movie in near future. And now, during a convention appearance, Stan Lee has said that Black Widow movie will happen in future.
Stan Lee’s comments came during his recent appearance at the Supanova Comic Con in Brisbane when he responded to a question related to Black Widow by saying that there will be a Black Widow movie. While the comment isn’t confirmation, it puts some interesting light into the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Although there has been little details regarding the upcoming Avengers movie, details regarding the future of the MCU have been nonexistent so far. However, for a long time, rumors surfaced on internet that the studio might focus on other characters from the MCU and a solo movie featuring Black Widow certainly holds grounds.
Most recently, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi expressed his desire to make a standalone Black Widow movie as Scarlett Johansson is also interested in doing the movie. At the time, he said, “[I’d like to see] Black Widow as something crazy and a bit funnier than we expect it to be. Because we know her story and it’s very sullen and very dark and her history is very dark. But! What’s the funny version of that?”
As we are just few months away from Avengers: Infinity War, more details regarding the movie is likely to be revealed in the coming days. We will have to wait to find out if the studio will make a solo Black Widow movie assuming the character makes out alive following the events of Avengers 4.
