Few years earlier, when Twitter announced its new API, it attracted a lot of criticisms from developers as several businesses shut down their applications. Changes to the API meant that small scale developers were having hard time to use the API to collect user data. If you are one of these developers, then you will be glad to know that the process of collecting data from the platform is going to be cheaper in the coming days as Twitter has launched premium APIs.
Twitter launched the latest APIs to give developers better access to make automated requests to the Twitter platform. With the latest release, the company is introducing a mid-tier option featuring higher rate limits for requests and more complex queries. Thanks to the latest APIs, developers will now have improved geographic location as well as metadata which is crucial for advertisers.
At the moment, you can choose from different categories starting from $149 to all the way up to $2499 per month. On the other hand, the search Tweets API is still in the public beta but expected to be released in a timely manner. When it becomes available, the search Tweets API will allow developers to college Twitter data over a period of 30 days.
Thanks to the latest release, it will be interesting to see if Twitter manages to attract new developers in the coming days.
