Although prior to release of FaceID, Apple’s latest iPhone X feature was criticized for possible security vulnerabilities, since the release of the smartphone, reviews of the feature has been pretty positive thus far and understandably, more manufacturers are working towards bringing the feature to their flagship smartphones in future. And latest reports have claimed that both Oppo and Xiami might be releasing their own smartphone with facial recognition technology next year.
The latest report comes via a report from DigiTimes. This latest reports comes after recently, KGI Securities’ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that Apple is at least two years ahead of the market when it comes to adopting facial recognition feature. However, with the latest reports out, it seems that the feature might be coming to Android users sooner than expected.
However, at the moment, it is unclear if other manufacturers will be able to provide similar user experience with their facial recognition technology. At the time, Kuo mentioned that more smartphone manufacturers are likely to be interested in bringing the feature to their smartphone. Most recently, rumors suggested that Samsung might bring its facial recognition feature with the company’s upcoming Galaxy S9 which is scheduled for release next year. And it seems other companies are likely to join both Apple and Samsung if that’s the case.
