In recent months, rumors claimed that Samsung is planning on releasing Galaxy S9 earlier than its typical timeline for release in Late April. While we will have to wait to find out if that’s the case, recently reports surfaced on internet that LG is working to bring its release date of G7 forward to compete with Samsung.
While there is no official word on the release of the smartphone, given that LG announced its G6 earlier this year in February before releasing in March, the rumors might accurate after all. When LG released its device earlier this year, it got better sales figure since G6 arrived long before other flagship smartphones hit the market.
This time, since Samsung is reportedly working on releasing S9 in January, LG wants to stay ahead of the competition by releasing prior to S9’s release. If the company indeed decides to release the smartphone in January, then the event will obviously be CES 2018.
At the moment however, we will need to take these rumors with grain of salt. While we don’t know a lot of details so far, reports suggested that the smartphone might ship with Snapdragon 845 chipset and OLED screen. As we near the end of the year, we might know more about both G7 and S9 in the coming weeks if the companies decides to release the smartphone at the start of the year.
