If you use Facebook regularly, then you already know that in order to mention a friend in status or comment, you need to type ‘@’ followed by the person’s name. Interestingly, reports have suggested that the company might be working on another way to tag friends in comments.
According to latest reports, the social networking giant is working on bringing a ‘Mention a friend’ tab in comment. If the feature is available in future, when you tap the button, it will open up your friends list and you will be able to mention the friend. Similar to the current method, your friend’s name will appear at the end of the post or at the position of the cursor where you mentioned the person.
While the feature is certainly handy when it comes to tagging, it might not provide a better way to mention someone in comment since users might need to scroll for quite a while before being able to tag someone in comment.
Despite the reports, it’s unclear if the company will introduce the feature to the social network in coming months. With the company testing new features on a regular basis, it won’t be surprising if the way makes its way into some users in coming weeks.
