Few months earlier, Google introduced YouTube’s autoplay functionality in the search results. Although some users have complained about the feature, it seems that the search engine giant is working to bring the autoplay functionality to the video-sharing service’s homepage as well.
According to several reports, Google is testing out the latest feature on the YouTube app. Thanks to the latest feature, the YouTube will automatically play a preview of videos as you scroll through the page. However, unlike other sites’ practice of playing videos with sounds, you will see a preview of the video without any sound which can ultimately save you time in case a video doesn’t meet your expectations.
While the autoplay feature is pretty obtrusive in nature, it has become one of the most popular practices of current web. While Google will not play the previews with sounds, it will add a subtitle to let you know what you are watching although it might still be distracting if you are just looking for something in the homepage.
However, reports revealed that you will get decent amount of control over the feature from the settings of the official YouTube app. You can set the preview to play only when you are connected to wifi or turn it off completely in case you don’t like the idea. As for now, we will have to wait to find out if the company releases the features to general users in the coming weeks.
