Few would have predicted that Creed would go on to experience massive success during its time of release. However, thanks to the movie’s success, we are set to get a sequel and the sequel’s shooting is set to begin in February of 2018. Ahead of the start of shooting, Sylvester Stallone has announced that he will direct the upcoming movie.
The latest confirmation however, didn’t meet prediction that the director of Creed, director Ryan Coogler would return to take over production of the movie. However, Coogler is currently busy with production of Black Panther for Marvel and he’s unlikely to be available when shooting for the upcoming sequel starts. As Sylvester Stallone was solely responsible for creating the Rocky franchise, would take the responsibility of directing the movie.
The announcement came via the actor’s official Instagram account. With the post, he said, “Looking forward to directing and Producing The incredibly talented Michael B Jordan in Creed 2 next year … One more Round ! #creed2 #mgm #fighting #workout #exercise #boxing”
As the actor has prior experience of directing four other movies in the franchise, it won’t be surprising if we get to see another great sequel with Creed 2. As for the plot, Sylvester Stallone for a long time teased that Dolph Lundgren’s Ivan Drago will return in the sequel as rumors suggested that Drago’s son is set to fight against Adonis Creed in the ring.
As mentioned earlier, back in 2015, Creed was a surprising hit as it brought a total of $173.5 million worldwide along with massive critical success. As a result, we can only expect that the sequel will live up to its expectations. As start of shooting approaches, we are likely to hear more details related to the movie.
