Sony Introduces New Design for PlayStation VR Headset

It’s been almost a year since Sony introduced its first VR headset in the UK market. Since then, the industry has gone through several changes and the company has confirmed that it is currently working on a new version of its popular PlayStation VR headset.

The latest announcement comes via the FAQ section of the company’s website where it revealed that users soon will have a new version of headset that features a new design, packaging and an improved processor unit. According to the section, the headset, will feature an updated design to integrate the stereo headphones at the back of the unit while the connecting cable will become slimmer to reduce the overall profile of the headset.

The company wrote, “There’s also an updated Processor Unit that supports HDR pass through, enabling users to enjoy HDR-compatible PS4 content on a TV without having to disconnect the Processor Unit in between the TV and the PS4 system. This function can be used only when the VR headset is turned off.”

While the company is yet to reveal the full details of the upcoming headset, it confirmed that the headset will ship with updated retail packaging to let users easily differentiate between two different headsets. The company noted, “In order to distinguish between the original model (CUH-ZVR1) and CUH-ZVR2 model, the packaging will be updated to include the model number printed on the box.”

Although there hasn’t been any confirmation from the company, several reports have claimed that the headset will be available for purchase from 14th of October. Despite noticeable changes, the headset’s price won’t change when it becomes available in different market around the world.
