While we finally got our hands on latest Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL after a long wait few weeks earlier, the latest smartphones shipped with a tons of issues. Out of all the issues, the smartphones screen related issues have attracted a lot of attentions as the screens of the smartphones feel bland despite their high color accuracy. As a result, Google’s choice of going with LG for screens have attracted a lot of setbacks. And now, Samsung has come up with series of ads to show how good its screens are.
Such claims aren’t surprising given that Samsung has dominated the screen market for a long time. While the company’s OLED displays can be seen in flagship smartphones, consumers are still satisfied with the LCD panels used in more affordable smartphones. Despite that, a large number of consumers still believe that Samsung’s AMOLED technology still is the best.
As a result, it was a surprise when Google opted for LG instead of Samsung. Following the release of smartphones containing similar LG displays, it became obvious that the problem is associated with LG rather than XL’s display panels. Apart from the dull colors, the Pixel 2 XL users reported screen burn-in issues.
In response to the latest events, Google promised to ship out software fix to the display problems. However, the company denied claims of screen burn in issues. Until that happens, we will have to wait and see how the XL’s issues affect the sales figure of the latest smartphones.
