This year packed several surprises for smartphone enthusiasts as most of the manufacturers have released several high end smartphones. Interestingly, curved smartphone design became the most trending design feature among manufacturers as few days earlier, ZTE released a foldable smartphone. As we come to close of end of the year, we are more than likely to see more of the design trends next year. While we will have to see if foldable screen becomes a main design theme of smartphones next year, recently, Huawei confirmed that the company will launch a foldable smartphone next year.
The latest news comes from Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business group who recently revealed that the company already has a working prototype although the company will need to work on design and innovation in the coming months.
He said, “We have two screens we still have a small gap [between the screens]. That’s not good, and we should get rid of that gap.”
“We will overtake them definitely That’s our destiny. Maybe I’m not humble … but nobody can stop us.”
If Huawei releases the smartphone, it will join several other companies who are currently playing with the idea of foldable smartphone. For instance, Samsung is reportedly planning on releasing a bendable smartphone later next year. While we will have to wait to find out how major smartphone manufacturers go ahead with the plans, it seems that next year will be another satisfactory year for smartphone enthusiasts.
