Although EA Sports’ football simulator remains one of the most popular games in genre, gamers often complain about the lack of changes on a yearly basis. In order to attract more gamers, EA Sports has announced a new global eSports event for FIFA 18 which will ultimately lead to first ever FIFA eWorld Cup next year.
While the final events will take place August next year, from November 2017 to July 2018, there will be several qualifying rounds where gamers will have chance to qualify for a spot in the playoffs. During the summer, a total of 128 players will compete in the playoff event until only eight players will remain in the event.
Talking about the event, Todd Sitrin, SVP and GM of the Competitive Gaming Division at EA said, “Last year was a pivotal achievement for competitive FIFA, engaging millions of competitors and spectators through world football,” he said. “In partnership with FIFA, we’re accelerating the growth of competitive gaming.”
If you are interested in participating in the event, then you can register for the tournament and you will be able to qualify through the FUT online competition or at the live qualifying events. As of now though, there aren’t a lot of details regarding the event available. However, as qualifying rounds will begin shortly, EA is expected to release more details about the tournament in the coming days.
