When Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrive in theater earlier last year, it received a lot of criticisms for all different reasons. Although at the time it wasn’t particularly obvious, it seems that Ben Affleck also shared similar views regarding the movie as he recently said that the criticisms for the movie was justified.
The actor recently revealed his opinion during an interview with Empire Magazine when he was promoting upcoming Justice League movie. During the interview, he said that most of the criticisms at the time were directed towards the dark storyline of the movie were understandable. He said, “I can understand people saying Batman v Superman was too dark, or this was outside the tone of what I’m used to seeing with a Batman story, and I think that’s a fair criticism.”
This latest admission is particularly surprising since the upcoming Justice League’s scripts was completed prior to Batman v Superman and during the interview, he didn’t mention if the script for the movie went through particular changes. However, from the interview, it seemed that the actor is pretty excited about the upcoming movie and the future of DCEU after the studio finally got it right with the release of Wonder Woman. Despite that, there are rumors that Ben Affleck might be parting ways with DCEU following the release of Justice League due to ongoing changes.
Regardless of what happens in future, we will find out shortly as Justice League can prove to be one of the most important movies of the DCEU. As of now, it looks like the studio is pretty confused regarding the future of the verse. For instance, executives are changing their minds regarding the interconnection of the DC movies. Hopefully, these confusions will not be coming in the way for fans as everyone is eagerly expecting to see another decent superhero movie.
