For a long time, Microsoft’s project Scorpio remained the center of attention for gamers as not a lot of details regarding the console were revealed leading up to the Xbox One X’s announcement earlier this summer. With the console now available for pre-order, the company revealed that the pre-order figures have surpassed Microsoft’s expectations. Most recently, Albert Penello, head of marketing for Xbox consoles globally, talked about the impact Microsoft had with Xbox One X had as Sony has come up with the similar idea with the PlayStaion 4 Pro.
During his interview with MCVUK, http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/xbox-one-x-executive-impressed-and-surprised-by-ps4-pro/0187797 he talked about Sony’s approach to the latest console. He said, “I give them a lot of credit for what they did there. But for me, the most interesting observation is that we both arrived at a similar idea even if the execution is slightly different.
“This business tends to diverge and converge in interesting ways, and obviously we don’t know what they’re doing. We don’t have insight into what their plans are, so when they announced the Pro, I was as surprised as anybody else was.”
“They had a different idea in mind for what they wanted to build, so in retrospect it may seem like we were reacting to what they were doing. But people in the business know that this has been in the works for years, and we have to lock the specs years in advance.”
As technology moves forward, 4K resolution is becoming increasingly popular among gamers. He also talked about the shift as he added, “We saw the 4K shift coming. We don’t jump on every technology that comes along, we pretty much skipped 3D if you remember in the 360 era, so we really believe in 4K. We were convinced and we wanted to create a box that was the showcase device for 4K televisions. That was our design.”
However, we will have to wait few more weeks until the console starts shipping to find out if it lives up to expectations as Microsoft repeatedly said that it will be the most powerful console till date.
