‘Lite’ version of different applications have become pretty popular in recent months. For example, LinkedIn and Facebook have their own versions of lite app to improve in-app experiences for users with slow internet connections. Back in April earlier this year, Twitter decided to join the group as it started its experiment with the Lite app. And now, the popular microblogging platform has gone one step further as the company has launched Twitter Lite app.
Similar to other networks, the Twitter lite app is directed towards users with slow internet connections and as of now, Twitter has launched the application in the Philippines as an experiment. While the application is available officially in the country, you can use it anywhere as it might benefit you if you are using slow internet connection or have limited data for social networking related needs. As of now though, it’s unknown if users around the world will get wider rollout in the coming days.
The latest application has a ‘media free’ mode that includes all of the main features but the app will require users to indicate which media they want to download according to their needs. During a latest interview with TechCrunch, a Twitter spokesperson said, “The test of the Twitter Lite app in the Google Play Store in the Philippines is another opportunity to increase the availability of Twitter in this market. The Philippines market has slow mobile networks and expensive data plans, while mobile devices with limited storage are still very popular there. Twitter Lite helps to overcome these barriers to usage for Twitter in the Philippines.”
If you are wondering what your user experience will be like in the latest Twitter Lite application, you can head to APKMirror where you can download the app directly. On the other hand, if you are currently living in the Philippines, then you can head to official Play Store to download the app as mentioned earlier.
