During his recent interview with Mashable, Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that the company is still struggling to keep up with the demand of different products as the demand is outpacing the supply of products.
The comments are surprising since we are eagerly waiting for several other products from Nintendo. Fils-Aime said during the interview, “We actually sold through almost 2.8 million units, so we dramatically over delivered. And yet, demand outpaces supply,” he said. “So what do some of the consumers on Reddit say? ‘Gosh, Nintendo, if you would’ve made more you would’ve sold more.’ Well, we did make more! And certainly we’re on a pace to supply in the current fiscal year 10 million units.”
Previously, Nintendo’s projection of Switch was only about two million but products like NES Classic and SNES Classic are selling in much higher number than expected and understandably, the company is struggling to keep up with the demands. While production of Switch is expected to catch up with the demand in the coming days, we will have to wait to find out if Nintendo can meet the expected productions for the upcoming holiday season.
