Kia Hires Pierre Leclercq as Styling Chief

In order to reverse its declining sales performance over last several years, Kia Motors has hired the former designer at BMW and Great Wall Motor, Pierre Leclercq as the head of styling.

This latest appointment comes as both Hyundai and Kia have suffered significant drops in the world’s top auto market. Most importantly, the problems started due to ongoing political issues between Seoul and Beijing and worsened by the lack of SUVs offered by the company. As a result, the automakers have decided to hire Leclercq to alter its fortune. In an official statement, the company said, “Leclercq is one of few star designers who have experienced all of the major automobile markets including Europe, the United States and China.”

As mentioned earlier, the company has suffered decline in its sales figures as in China, Hyundai sales feel nearly 30 percent while Kia’s sales dropped even more as the sales dropped over 40 percent.

However, this is far from the first recruitment made by the company in recent months. Few months earliar, the company appointed Simon Loasby as its design head. Both Leclercq and Loasby are expected to revamp the designs of different lineups to make the cars more appealing to consumers. However, we will need to wait a bit more to find out if the latest appointments will make major changes in the company’s fortune.
