Over last several months, Facebook has introduced several Snapchat features across its applications to increase user engagements. Up until now, Instagram users were able to see the stories only within the application and pretty soon, users of the platform’s mobile website will be able to see stories feature.
The upcoming addition of the latest features to the mobile website comes via an official announcement by the company. In case you didn’t know, stories allows users to post several short clips to their own story feed to let their followers know about the happenings around the day. While the story feature is currently available to users of the official application, the company revealed its plan to add the ability to post stories directly from mobile web version without opening the application.
However, we will have to wait little while before we can get the features on our hand. The latest announcement isn’t particularly surprising as Instagram gained attention with the story feature much faster than Snapchat thanks to its already existing user base. If the new feature becomes a success, it will mark another attempt by the company to improve the mobile version of the site. The company wrote in the official blog post, “Stories has quickly become an important part of the Instagram experience — over 250 million people use it every day to see what their friends are doing in the moment. Now we’re excited to bring stories to people who use Instagram on the web.”
Instagram is currently trying to bring more users to the platform by developing a highly optimized mobile website to bring more users from developing countries where majority of the users have slow network connection. We will have to wait to see if the company manages to bring more users to the platform by implementing the story feature in the mobile version of the website.
