Although Google released Android Oreo for Nexus and Pixel smartphones, the company didn’t release the latest operating system for the Nexus Player. Now, after a month of waiting, users of the device can now finally enjoy the features of the latest operating system on their Nexus Player as the company finally released the latest version of the operating system for Nexus Player with the September security patch.
While everyone expected that they will get Oreo shortly following the release, the delay was caused by a bug that was causing a large amount of data to be uploaded through users’ network. As the bug was shortly found before the release, Oreo’s release for the Nexus Player was delayed.
If you are wondering, the build number is 170623.021 and Google is offering factory images along with OTA. However, you won’t need to update the device manually as the update will show up automatically in the coming days. On the other hand, although Nexus 6 and 9 was launched alongside the player, both of the device do not support the Oreo meaning if you own either of the devices, you shouldn’t expect an update from Google.
