Alcatel Releases Two New Budget Smartphones

IFA 2017 didn’t feature much of a surprise this year and during the event earlier today, Alcatel has announced two new addition to the company’s budget smartphones lineup. While both Idol 5 and A7 do not fall in the category of flagship smartphone, they will meet your needs in case you are in the market for budget smartphones.

The first of the duo, Idol 5, comes with 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor along with 3GB of RAM. In addition to that, the phone features solid 13MP camera along with 5MP secondary camera. As for storage, the phone features 16GB of internet storage with option to add microSD card in case you need more space to store your files. Lastly, the Idol 5 comes with 2,800 mAh battery to support its 5.2-inch full-HD display.

While the smartphone is pretty solid for its €239 price tag, it doesn’t feature many surprises. In addition to the solid hardware, you will get an app called cloner which will duplicate social applications to keep you updated about several accounts in case you use multiple social networks or applications.

If Idol 5 doesn’t match your needs, then you might want to opt for the A7 which is little bit more powerful. The A7 features a 5.5-inch full HD display along with 1.5 GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. In addition to this, the A7 features 16MP primary camera with 8MP secondary front facing camera. In order to support its 5.5 inch screen, the smartphone packs a larger 4,000 mAh battery. Interestingly, the smartphone comes with a €229 price tag which is surprising as A7 is little bit more powerful compared to the other model.

While it isn’t known if the latest models will make their way into North America in future, if you are living in Europe, you can get your hands on both of the smartphone starting from today.
