Google Home Users Will be Able to Make Calls using their Devices in The Coming Days

As Smart Speakers are becoming essential parts of ‘Smart Home’ systems, tech giants are actively pushing forward to bring new functionalities on a regular basis. Interestingly, Google recently announced that owners will soon be able to make calls using the company’s home speaker system located in US or Canada.

While the upcoming feature is certainly intriguing, the Home Speaker might feature a bit problem as the recipients might see the call coming from unknown number or no caller ID. However, if the recipient of the call is subscribed for Google Voice or Project Fi, s/he will see the calling information without any kind of issue. Although this might be problematic for a lot of users, the company has said that it is planning on fixing the problem by the end of this year when the caller ID will show you as your own phone number.

In addition to the latest features, the company earlier today announced the ‘Home Preview’ program today for enthusiasts who want to try out the new features of smart speaker system. As the aforementioned calls are free to use, you might want to sign up for the preview program in case you want to get your hands on the caller ID feature first when it becomes available later this year.
