As we eagerly wait for the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, several new details of the movie is coming up on a regular basis thanks to different promotional events. While we have known for a while that Chris Evans had shoot several cameos for the movie, we won’t be getting all of the cameos in the theatrical release next month. However, director Jon Watts have confirmed that we will get all of the cameo appearances of the superhero when Blu-Ray version of the movie becomes available in the coming months.
This latest revelation came during Watts’ recent interview with Screen Rant when he confirmed that the cameos were shot as parts of a whole series that describes different problems with facing high-school kids. While we might get a small portion of the videos in the initial release, the Blu-Ray version of the movie will contain all of the cameos. He said, “When I was thinking of what would a Marvel universe high school look like, I was like, their version would be the Captain America fitness challenge. So it started with that, then we just started joking around about like, what if he did more videos? As soon as that door opened up, I just couldn’t stop brainstorming more and more things. Then I made a very… I think you see it for like a split second in the movie, but we made a whole detailed DVD case of like, ‘Rappin’ with Cap’ or ‘Rappin’ With the Captain’ and it was just messages from Captain America to the youth of today as if somehow the government had Captain America make all these PSAs for kids. And we shot so many more than are even in the movie. They’ll be on the Blu-ray.”
If you have watched previous movies set in the MCU, then you already know that it’s far from the first time we will see Chris Evans appearing for cameos in a superhero movie. Most recently, he appeared in Thor: The Dark World where Loki changed his appearance to deceive Thor. As usual, the director praised the actor as he continued, “There’s so many about just everything, [like] brushing your teeth. Just anything you could think of, we had poor Captain America do it. Those were so much fun, just making them in the moment, [and] really trying some stuff out. Chris [Evans] was so game, it was really fun.”
This latest news comes shortly after the most Spider-Man: Homecoming TV spot that gave us an idea regarding the upcoming movie. While we have to wait pretty long to get all of the Captain America cameos, you can be sure that the upcoming movie will be a solid start for the franchise. Spider-Man: Homecoming has an official release date of July 7th.
