For its five seasons, Arrow used flashbacks pretty well to recount Oliver’s missing five years. The popular television series ended its fifth season lately and fans were wondering if that marked the end of the flashbacks. Despite the ending, Co-creator and executive producer of the show Marc Guggenheim has revealed that the show will still use flashbacks although in lesser amount. He recently said, “At the same time, I will tell you that the season premiere of Season 6 will have a flashback. . . . To the island? If you take me literally at my word: yes, back to the island.”
However, as of now, it remains to be seen how the showrunners use the flashback in the following season. The fifth season finale ended with the island exploding and apparently killing everyone. However, the show isn’t likely to pick up from where it left and the show might just go back to flashback to inform how everyone might have survived following the event.
Although the fans kind of have love and hate relationship with the flashbacks, it’ll be interesting to see how the writers use it going forward. Recently Marc Guggenheim indicated that the showrunners are as happy as the fans to get rid of the flashbacks and as a result, if the writers decide to use the flashback going forward, it might have some specific reason to count the storyline. However, we won’t know for sure until the show comes back in fall.
Arrow is set to return in fall with its new day Thursday at 8 P.M ET on the CW. until then, we will bring you any kind of development that we get to know. Stay tuned for more.
