With present day consoles’ increasing popularity, SEGA became outdated for gamers around the world and the company is actively trying to bring its users back to the once popular console. In order to lure players to some of the most iconic games, SEGA is set to release all of the previous games of the company for free with ‘SEGA Forever’ app.
The latest news was confirmed via the company’s official website as the app will be available on both Android and iOS in the coming weeks. However, gamers won’t be able to download all the games when the app becomes available as the company is planning on releasing the games eventually.
While all of the games will be free to play, they will contain ads which can be removed from the games for $1.99 per game. Talking about the decision to release the games for free, the company’s executive Mike Evans told Metro UK, “We’ve never before done something that really crosses all of the different gaming eras, and isn’t prejudice against someone because they grew up in the ’80s versus the ’90s. And so what we’re trying to do is look at how we can take content that spans two decades and make it all available in the same place.”
According to the website, the new plan will allow everyone to compete with other users around the world as the games are said to be adapted for smartphones. Despite such changes, the website noted that the games will still bring familiar taste of console era.
