Twitter to Give Users Control to Hide User Data from the Platform

Twitter in recent months have brought significant amount of changes to the platform and recently, the company revealed that they will give users more control over how the platform collects their data.

In the coming weeks the company is set to roll out several new tools to give such control and transparency. After the rollout is completed, you can go to ‘Your Twitter Data’ section to see information the microblogging platform is collecting and will be able to turn off the option in case you want to stop Twitter from collecting your data.

On the other hand, the new Personalization and Data Settings will extend your privacy even more as you can force the platform to by choosing how it uses the collected data. For example, using this section, users can control different options including ability to go to Periscope, photo taggin, read receipts, personalized ads.

Apart from the new privacy options, Twitter is also updating its privacy policy regarding collection of data. Although now the microblogging platform keeps users’ data for a 10 day window, after the privacy policy takes effect on June 18, the platform will keep the collected data for increased 30 days window. As the company is set to introduce the host of new tools, the platform will no longer support the ‘Do Not Track browser setting in future.
