When Samsung announced that the company is working on its own operating system, a large number of consumers got excited as it would provide both Apple and Google in the companies’ dominating market. However, when the first smartphone models arrived, all the hype vanished away and became one of the few failures the company has faced in recent years. Earlier today, Samsung announced another model running the operating system.
Named Samsung Z4, the latest smartphone features traditional Samsung Smartphone design and several design features brings back memories from early days of Samsung Smartphones.
As the smartphone is targeted towards budget consumers, it features a 4.5-inch 480 x 800 display. Interestingly, the device runs a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor along with 1GB RAM. The smartphone is likely to come with a price tag below $100 which is understandable with the smartphone’s feature.
While it’s good to see Samsung trying to do something different and bring a smartphone with the company’s own operating system, the smartphone shows exactly why the company failed to live up to the hype surrounding the OS. Over the lifetime of Tizen OS, it has shown a large number of security issues and rather than producing crappy smartphone, it would be worthwhile if Samsung concentrated more on its highly successful models.
