Over last four years, SpaceX has been promising to fly Falcon Heavy although we didn’t receive significant details regarding the launch. However, earlier today, the company released a video that hints that the company is getting closer to launch its next big rocket.
The video shows that Falcon Heavy’s main core is going through its first major static fire test. In case you didn’t know, the Falcon Heavy is better than the company’s flagship Falcon 9 rocket as the Falcon Heavy will consist of three Falcon 9 cores. The company recently announced that it is planning on using the Falcon Heavy to fly two tourists around the moon. In addition to that, the company has a goal of sending spacecraft to Mars in 2020.
This new video is an exciting news for the people who are eagerly waiting to see the rocket for a long time as back in 2011, Elon Musk said that the rocket would make its debut in 2013. However, schedule delays and accidents have forced the company to push back the first flight. Recent reports have suggested that SpaceX has a targeted launch date at the end of summer. Although the company is still few years away from achieving its goals, it’s certainly a positive sign that the company is heading towards the right direction as the flights might even happen according to the scheduled date. You can check out the newly released footage below.
