If you were expecting Hellboy 3 for a long period of time, you might have been disappointed when director Guillermo Del Toro confirmed that there won’t be any sequel for the second movie in the series. Recently, the director confirmed that we are instead getting a complete reboot of the franchise.
This news comes via the official Facebook Page of Mike Mignola who confirmed that the R-rated reboot is currently in the works. He also confirmed that David Harbour is set to play the main character with Neil Marshall is set to direct the movie. He said, “Okay, here’s some news. There is going to be another Hellboy movie. It’s going to be an R rated reboot directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game Of Thrones) and starring David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy. More news to come soon.”
As of now, Millennium is rumored to be negotiating with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin about the reboot. While the reboot is a good news for fans, it’s little bit sad that both Del Toro and Ron Perlman won’t be part of the reboot. While both of the Hellboy movies were praised by fans, minor box office success meant that the studio didn’t want to continue with the story. With the upcoming release though, the franchise might hit new high as fans are more used to comic book adaptions that the time when both of the Hellboy movies first came out.
