Digital assistants have become surprisingly popular in a short period of time and companies are bringing new features in a regular basis. More than a year earlier, Google announced its plan to bring its digital assistant to Android TV at the developer conference. However, till now, there’s no indication when we will finally get the functionality.
However, recently the company has started to show off different features of the Android TV and it seems that the Android TV might be getting a new home screen along with long awaited integration of assistant.
The company revealed its plan via a blog post recent as it wrote, “The new Android TV home screen organizes video content into channels and programs in a way that’s familiar to TV viewers. Each Android TV app can publish multiple channels, which are represented as rows of programs on the home screen… Users can configure which channels they wish to see on the home screen, and the ordering of channels, so the themes and shows they’re interested in are quick and easy to access.”
“Because the Assistant is context-aware, it can help users narrow down what content to play. Users will also be able access the Assistant to control playback, even while a video or music is playing. And since the Assistant can control compatible smart home devices, a simple voice request can dim the lights to create an ideal movie viewing environment.”
However, there isn’t any exact date when the new features will be released although Google recently said during the Google I/O earlier this month that the update will come later this year. As of now, we can’t do anything except wait and see if we are getting the promised features anytime soon.
