With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 kicking off the summer movie season next weekend, this weekend marked the end of the current spring season. As last week of April often provide quiet run at the theaters, Fate of the Furious had a mixed weekend although other newly released movies couldn’t affect the earnings of the movie. The Fate of the Furious managed to earn $18.3 million at during third weekend to keep its place at the top of the box office collection.
According to the figures reported by Box Office Mojo, How To Be a Latin Lover took second place with an impressive $12 million although the movie opened only 1,118 theaters. Interestingly, Bollywood hit Baahubali: The Conclusion managed to perform better than expected with the movie bringing in $10.1 million from just 425 theaters.
If the figures stay consistent and as expected, The fate of the Furious wouldn’t create new record for the franchise but might cross Furious 7’s 1.5 billion worldwide collection. However, we have to wait little bit longer to find out if that’s the case.
One of the major disappointment however has been The Circle which failed at the box office despite having Tom Hanks and Emma Watson as cast members. The movie is based on best selling novel by Dave Eggers which centers on Mae Holland portrayed by Emma Watson who lands a job in a social media company called The Circle. Eventually she joins a new experiment that goes on to affect her personal life and everyone around her.
With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 opening next season worldwide, these figures are set to drop even more and it’ll be worthwhile to see how the next Marvel movie performs in global box office.
