AMD Reveals 16-Core Processor to Make the World’s Fastest Consumer PC

AMD attracted high level of attention from consumers with its Ryzen processor as it was one of the most highly anticipated product announcements from the company in recent years. Although we will need to wait little bit longer to find out how the latest AMD chips affected Intel’s market share, it seems that the company is set to make life of Intel little bit more difficult as it recently announced a new 16-core processor aimed towards enthusiasts and high end users.

The announcement came at the company’s financial analyst day as Jim Anderson, Senior VP and General Manager, Computing and Graphics at AMD, said, Jim Anderson, Senior VP and General Manager, Computing and Graphics at AMD,

As of now though, details of the processor are still scarce and we will need to wait few weeks to see what AMD has in its hands.

This news comes after recent rumors suggested that AMD is set to release new processors and a major leak earlier suggested that the company is planning on introducing a 16-core processor which will have a base clock speed of 3.5GHz and TDP of mere 155W.

If AMD provides consumers affordable 16-core processors, it will become a major concern for Intel as the company dominated the chip market for a long period of time. In wake of recent rumors, it was rumored earlier that Intel will bring 12-core CPU to compete with AMD. If that’s the case, then you can be sure that the processor will have an extremely high price tag as Intel already has its extreme processors with a high price tag.

We’ll need to wait few more weeks to learn what Intel has in store for us but whatever happens, it’s true that the processor market has just become little more interesting.
