As Universal Pictures officially starting off its shared monster movies universe with upcoming The Mummy, fans are getting pretty interested in the future of the universe featuring their favorite monsters. While there isn’t a lot of details regarding different franchises, recently reports have surfaced that filmmaker Adam Wingard will be responsible for directing Godzilla vs Kong.
This news comes as a turning point for the director who for a long period of time has managed to establish himself as a respected director. The studio recently confirmed the signing of Wingard as director although it’s yet not known who will write the script, several talented writers have joined the project.
Since the original announcement from last year that we will be getting the monster movie treat, not a lot of details regarding the movie has been revealed so far. However, the movie is set to come out on May 22, 2020. While the storyline of the movie isn’t known, the post credit scene for Kong: Skull Island featured Brie Larson and Tom Hiddleston’s characters in a Monarch interrogation room where they are show the origin of Godzilla. Apart from that, the scene also featured different monsters described in cave paintings and laying down the groundwork for the upcoming shared monster movie universe.
Although not a much has been revealed regarding the movie, given that the movie now officially has a direction, we should learn more about the movie in the coming months.
