Over a large share of last decade, Intel has dominated the chip market with cutting-edge technology and interestingly the company failed to capture the smartphone market as Qualcomm is currently the largest chip makers for smartphones. Few weeks earlier, company CEO announced that we might see ARM powered Windows 10 laptops in near future as the company’s Snapdragon 835 processor is capable of running the operating system efficiently. And recent reports have suggested that Lenovo and Microsoft will most likely be first companies to produce ARM powered laptops.
It’s not the first time Microsoft is working with the chips as previously the company worked with Windows RT which was a version of Windows 8 compatible with ARM chips. However, the process failed and if the new reports are true, then the company is more than likely to introduce a different version of Windows 10 for ARM processors. In case of such development, it would eliminate different issues the company faced with its attempt with Windows RT as ARM based Windows 10 laptops will be appropriate version for laptops powered by Windows 10.
While there is a lot of confusion as of now if we’ll see such laptop, if Microsoft is currently working on the laptop, it might be another surface book which failed to meet company’s expectations. Despite that, it’ll be worthwhile to see if Microsoft tries something different and introduces the laptop. Until then, such rumors should be taken with grain of salt.
