Although Drake wasn’t expected to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, he joined later as a special guest at the event during a performance by rapper Future on Saturday. However, the rapper later accused staff from the Californian Country club of racial discrimination.
After his appearance on Saturday, the rapper turned to Instagram on Sunday to accuse that staffs at the Madison Club in La Quinta decide how to treat guests based on their race. He said in the post, “The most offensive place I have ever stayed at in my life with staff who pick and choose who they are going to accommodate based on racial profiling.”
However, the officials from the club responded quickly as they released an official statement saying, “The Madison Club Inn completely refutes the notion that it is in any way, shape, or form a racist establishment. This is textbook character assassination.”
Whether or not the involved parties are correct, fans enjoyed the event as Drake performed songs like Jumpman, Gyalchester, and Fake Love alongside Future. During the event, stars like Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga and British band Radiohead also performed to audiences’ pleasure.
