While the ability to set a custom gamer pic was recently rolled out Xbox Insiders, it involved some lengthy process off transferring pictures to console using a USB drive. In order to make the process easier, Microsoft has decided to include the ability to upload the pictures directly from your computer if you are using Xbox beta app for Windows 10.
If you want to upload a picture to your account using the beta app, you can open the app and go to the profile page. Afterwards, you can select customize and go to edit option next to your picture. In order to change the picture, select and upload the custom picture and the newly included picture will be your new gamer picture for Xbox after review. However, your selected image must be at least 1080×1080 pixels. While the full version of the app is expected to be released soon, until you get the full release, your best bet to work your way around the gaming pic is to use the Xbox beta app.
