Although HTC began upgrading the One M9 to latest Android Nougat back in December for the unlocked device, it said that the carrier locked models will receive in the early 2017. However, with the first quarter of the year gone, it was about time HTC started updating all locked models as T mobile users started to get the updated few weeks earlier. It seems that all carrier locked models are likely to receive the updated OS as the update has started to make its way to One M9 on Sprint. Sprint has also started to release its update and noted that the update will improve system performance.
Users might face one minor issue though as the latest update doesn’t include the latest Android security patches for April that was released earlier last week. As the latest update for Sprint contains the February security patch, users might be vulnerable to other security issues that have since been addressed in Google’s more recent releases.
As HTC released the March security update few weeks earlier, Sprint didn’t have enough time to test the patch and hopefully all users will soon be able to get the update.
