Bungie for a long period of time has been synonymous with Halo’s success that back in 2014 when the developers released Destiny, it immediately became one of the most popular games of the year. Since then, gamers have waited for a long period of time to get more from the developers and Activision and Bungie have officially confirmed Destiny 2.
The confirmation comes few days after promotional posters were leaked online by an Italian retailer. Later, the Destiny’s Twitter account released an image that featured the official release date of September 8.
While Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg said earlier this year that development was going great and we will be getting our hands on the game later this year, we didn’t get official release date at the time.
The sequel is set to be one of the most successful games of the year given that back in 2014, the game managed to get $500 million in sales during the first day which had set it up to be the biggest new video game franchise launch in history. This record says a lot about the developers and the expectations for the sequel.
With the E3 just few months away, we should get more details in the coming days. Destiny is set to release on PlayStation and Xbox One and rumored to get a PC release as well. However, we will have to wait and see if such rumors hold any grounds as there hasn’t been any confirmation so far.
