Matrix 4 Isn’t a Remake or a Reboot Says Writer

Few days back, reports came out that Warner Bros. is hiring Zak Penn to write script of the upcoming Matrix movie. While there isn’t much information regarding the movie, Zak Penn confirmed earlier last night that the notion that his project is either a reboot or a remake is “inaccurate.” In a series of tweets, the writer said,

“All I can say at this point is no one could or should REBOOT The Matrix. People who know ‘Animatrix’ and the comics understand. Can’t comment yet except to say that the words reboot and remake were from an article. Let’s stop responding to inaccurate news. Do I want to see more stories set in the universe of The Matrix? Yes. Because it’s a brilliant idea that generates great stories. Look at what people are doing with Xmen universe. Between Logan and Legion and Deadpool, does anyone want them to stop? Not me.”

At this time, there isn’t any confirmation regarding the involvement of Wachowski siblings in the upcoming movie although the initial report revealed that the studio would at least like to get the Wachowski’s blessing to move forward. Earlier last month Keanu Reeves said that he will be willing to come back for a new movie but only if Wachowski siblings were coming back as both writers and directors. However, at the moment they are pretty busy with their Netflix TV series Sense8 and it will be interesting to see if they will join the movie which gave them iconic status.
