Few weeks earlier, it was reported that Facebook is implementing Live Location Sharing service in its WhatsApp messenger and now, the company earlier on Monday rolled out a new feature that lets users to share their location for up to one hour with other users or group.
You can start using the feature by going to “location” icon followed by selecting “more” and giving permission to track the location for up to one hour. If you wish, you can also stop sharing the location any time you want. The users who will see your location will then know how far away you are from them and how long it might take for you to reach them. This feature comes along with the default static location service of the App so you will still be able to share the location to meet up with someone.
The company introduced the service after it found that one of the most commonly used phrases on messenger is “How far away are you?” and decided to include the feature to let others know where you are at a given time. Earlier last week, Google introduced its own location-sharing feature on Maps, while the Messages app for iPhone also has a similar feature.
