Facebook announced that its messenger will stop working with a number of devices by the end of this month. In a recent announcement, the company revealed that it will stop support for devices which are running older version of the apps such as v10 of Messenger and v55 of the official Facebook app for android.
In addition to these version, the company will stop support for windows phone and if you find yourself among the users who are unable to run the app, simply update the application to the latest version or use Facebook Lite to continue using the service according to the social media platform. And lastly, if none of these methods works, then you can simply go to Facebook by using mobile browser. The company defended its position of cutting down supports by saying on its blog,
“Our team spends countless hours making it the best way to message your friends and family.
“One of the ways we continue to improve is by consistently introducing rich features, like voice and video calling, games, and bots for Messenger. Using older versions of apps means that experiences won’t work well or sometimes not at all.”
In order to inform users about the decision, Facebook has revealed that it will notify users via the apps if someone is going to be affected by the upcoming changes.
